Drum core

Scott phoned from New York and I looked up a number for him in the Vancouver white pages. He, Shannon, and Ivy are going to stay there for a few more days, so I'll have more time off than I thought I would. I guess it's good that I can focus on my first writing class tomorrow, but I already miss Ivy like crazy. It's funny how babies get to you. I made a CD of all the photos I've taken of her to give to Shannon. It's a huge collection. It's insane. I'm the baby paparazzi.

After talking to Scott I hung up the phone and realized that it was (as of 3 minutes ago), September 11th, and that they were in NY for the anniversary. I wondered what that might be like. I thought it might be sad, but maybe it wouldn't be. Maybe I just felt sad wondering about it.

Marian and I walked up 4th today, looking at stores and not letting ourselves buy anything. Well, she bought a couple of CDs, but that was it. And I bought a "Vimto" pop from the Candy Aisle, and an apple bread from Terra Breads. Happy waited in the car. Than we went to my house and burnt music for each other while I tried to organize my storage closet. My storage closet is really scary and embarrassing. It's where I put things I don't have space for anywhere else, or that I don't want but don't want to throw out. I didn't really get anywhere with sorting it, but I made it look a little less like a solid wall of refuse. Job well done-ish.

What CDs? And how often are you nannying, now that school's begun? And are you really going to visit me?

Well, if you mean what CDs did Marian buy, she got a Ted Leo album and a Modern Lovers collection. I made her copies of my Ziggy Stardust, the latest Bright Eyes album, and other things that I can't remember. Oh yeah, Nick Drake. She made me copies of a Spoon album, something by Steve Malkmus, and the last Decemberists thingy.

I'm not sure what the new nannying routine will be when they get back from NY, but I imagine I'll work on Wednesday and Friday mornings.

I really want to visit you and talked it over with the family, but since I have no money and classes to boot, it doesn't look likely this fall. Sigh. What about spring? By then at least I'd have some money. Is Marian coming out?

Apple bread? Please say more...

Apple foccacia! It's so tasty. The best, though, is the grape bread. Have you never been into Terra breads before? We'll have to rectify that.

And yes, I want to come out to Montreal. I have the same problems with money and school of course, but these things can be worked around. Do our reading weeks coincide?

Hmm. Well, the thing is, Spring is ridiculously busy for me. I'll be in two classes, TAing, two RAships and a french class. So this is why I am sad you can't come in the fall. Which is nothing but luxury and idleness.
