Don't forget to visit the gift shop

Scott dropped me and Ivy off at Science World today for a couple of hours. It was insane. There must have been 10 separate bus loads of kids running around, and all of them were much older than Ivy, so that I had to maintain CONSTANT VIGILANCE or see her get pushed around or stepped on or buried under a giant pie chart.

Science World is so weird, especially now that it's been worn in with more than a decades worth of sneakers and grubby little hands. In the nature exhibit (always my favorite), the stuffed beavers are missing fist-sized clumps of fur and the lifesize rubber model of an intestinal tract has faded to a disturbing brownish grey, but kids are still crazy for it. Ivy's no exception. She ran from exhibit to exhibit mindless of guidelines (please leave the water in the water area!) and the stamping crowds. As soon as she'd yawned once, I started trying to herd her out of the building, using my CONSTANT VIGILANCE to keep her from picking anything up and eating or breaking it. When we got outside, she fell over on the pavement and skinned her hands.

I'm so tired right now, I can't even blink right.

Yeah, she had a terrific time. I just hope she didn't catch a cold. At one point I barely stopped her from drinking out of a filthy water exhibit. BLECK.

I want science world to be fun. I am afraid to go back in there since I'm sure all my lovely memories of it will be ruined by the dinge, and the smallness of it all now that I'm, like, so jaded and stuff.

Beaniest bean that ever beaned. Feel free to bring her by my place anytime, like you did a few weeks ago. I've got some nice pens and erasers with her name on them.
