I went downstairs this morning and there was a letter from UBC on the hall floor.
Dear Claire Gibson, Your manuscript was read carefully and we are very sorry to tell you that we were unable to award you a place as a Major in Creative Writing.
Guh.
But they also say I've been accepted into Cr. Non-fiction 405-1. With Bowen? Fuh?
My dad is downstairs freaking out about his laptop, which has appparently lost all its data on the eve of a deadline.
Today is a crud.

I'm sorry, Claire. That sucks. Are you happy about the creative nonfiction?
How is that even possible? It was definitely an order of events thing, not a merit thing, if that makes any sense. Best nernie ever.
HAVE I EVEN SEEN YOU SINCE I"VE BEEN BACK?
wtf mate
I'm totally shocked. This is ridiculous. I think you should phone up Pat Rose and demand to know what the FUCK IS UP. Or else I will.
Thanks guys, and thanks Sachi for the email. I guess I let myself get my hopes up after the A+, which would explain the sense of crushing disappointment and utter defeat. Lesson: let hope die.
Kimi - I'm glad I can take a writing course. Another bout of Cr. Non-fiction wouldn't have been my first choice, but beggars, I'm told, can't be choosers.
Lepsy - No. You totally haven't. That's not cool. Make Marian hang out with me, and then come too.
aw claire that really sucks about your major. i don't really know what else to say.
Thanks Kate. I'm feeling a little less tragic about the whole thing now that it's a day later. Friends are good for that.
I've never read your fiction beyond Fetchers scripts but I must say that your bloggy creative non-fiction is teh fancy. Yes I am buttering you up a little but it seems like a good opportunity to gush. Gush gush, Claire, you're a great writer and I wish you would send some stories sometime.
