In the fur below of the wily whale

Yesterday I went to work for the first time since Easter break. I spent the morning running after Ivy and shouting "gotcha" at appropriate times. I also took about 50 pictures of her and drank cup after cup of the decaf black tea I've started carrying with me in a Ziploc baggy. (I'm that super cool, chums).

Ivy gave me a couple of nice smiles and waves for the camera, too.

Despite a last-minute possibility of seeing The Evaporators with Shonen Knife at the Brickyard, which we had to bail on because Marc had school early the next day, (yes, Saturday, ask him) , the evening ended up being all about having dinner with my grandmother in North Van.

Marc and I took her to White Spot at Park & Tilford, where Emily and Joe were waiting to meet us. White Spot is my grandma's favorite. She likes the lemon meringue pie, but thinks the restaurant is too loud. She enjoyed herself, though. We all got disgustingly full.

White Spot has the greatest name. I wish they still had their old logo, though, with the live chicken and the knife and fork. That was so weird.

In any case. This morning I slept in and had dreams about Saturna Island in an alternate universe, and making a massive polar bear out of snow with Emily, which we both dearly loved. I got out of bed very abruptly, for some reason, and stumbled downstairs where I found my mother singing about the morning. Seriously. I asked her if the Pope was dead. She didn't know. I still haven't found out and I'm not sure why I needed to know. I was confused. I'd had a lot of dreams.

I have a lot of dreams about Bowen in an alternate universe, for some reason. Like, once a week at least.

Whenever I think of your grandmother, I immediately picture her singing "I'm in love with you, sunny...".

I was thinking about your alternate Bowen dreams when I wrote this post. I never had dreams about an alternate Saturna until recently. I think I've only had about two.

I missed Shonen Knife when they played here too. I'm on the regret boat on that one...on the other hand, going to White Spot's a good alternative. I like the pumpkin pies.
